This condo was so spacious and absolutely beautiful! The pictures didn't do it justice. And right across from the beach access! We also got credit to use for some beach gear which was such a nice/convenient add on. Would definitely stay here 10 times over! Inside an Opal Condo

Opal #103 is the condo to picture: a three-bedroom, three-bath layout sleeping six, with an open living, dining and kitchen area, an oversized kitchen island, stainless appliances and a dining table with room for everyone at once. The primary bedroom has a king bed and an ensuite with dual vanities, one guest room has a queen and the other has two full beds — the configuration that covers two couples plus kids without anyone drawing the sofa.

The private balcony looks out to the Gulf, and the interiors are worth a mention because they break the mold: instead of the blue-white-grey coastal palette every other building uses, Opal leans into warm colour, glass accents and sleek cabinetry.

Two things to know before you book. Opal is a walk-to-beach building rather than a beachfront one, so you cross the road to reach the sand — that is the trade for three bedrooms, three baths and covered parking. And Opal does not accept pets; our pet-friendly guide covers the homes that do. If being on the sand matters more, the beachfront communities are the place to start.

Around Opal

Opal's position across from the beach puts it in the middle of things rather than at one end of the island. The restaurants and bars along Padre Boulevard are close, and the free island shuttle runs the length of it if you would rather leave the car under its cover.

On the water, watersports, parasailing and dolphin tours all run from the bay side, and fishing goes year-round. With kids along, Sea Turtle Inc., the Birding and Nature Center and the waterpark handle the days nobody wants more sun.

One local quirk worth timing a trip around: rocket launches from the mainland are visible from this stretch of the island, and a balcony or the pool deck is a fine place to watch one. Launch dates move constantly, so check the schedule close to your trip rather than booking around it.

Is Opal on the beach?

Opal is a walk-to-beach building, not a beachfront one. Public beach access is directly across the street, so it is a street crossing rather than a drive or a long walk.
What amenities does the Opal community have?

A long waterfall-edge community pool with lounge seating, two raised hot tubs finished in mosaic tile, covered parking and an elevator. It is a single building, so the pool deck stays quiet.
What size condos are at Opal?

Three-bedroom, three-bath layouts sleeping six, with a king in the primary, a queen in one guest room and two full beds in the other.
Does every bedroom have its own bathroom?

In the three-bed, three-bath layouts, yes — each bedroom has convenient access to a bathroom, and the primary has an ensuite with dual vanities.
Is there parking at Opal?

Yes, and it is covered. There is a limit of two vehicles per condo, including golf carts, trailers and RVs.
Is beach gear included?

Yes. Every stay includes a VayKLife beach gear credit for chairs, umbrellas, bikes and boogie boards, delivered to the door and collected at the end of the stay.
Are pets allowed at Opal?

No. Pets and animals of any kind are not permitted in Opal condos. Some of our other South Padre Island rentals do take dogs.
Can you see rocket launches from Opal?

Launches from the mainland are visible from this part of the island when the schedule lines up, and the balconies and pool deck are good vantage points. Dates shift often, so treat it as a bonus rather than a plan.
