Sandcastle Days
The fall months are beautiful in our island paradise, and this is when one of our favorite South Padre Island events takes place. Sandcastle Days features a plethora of unique sand sculptures created by master sand sculptors from all over the world. Attendees can watch the talented artists create their masterpieces, sing along to live music, and when the sun sets and the moon rises high, can ooh and ahh over a fantastical fireworks celebration. Sandcastle Village is the mainstay of the event, featuring a selection of permanent and rotating sand sculptures. Although the event is free, it is suggested that a small donation, even just $1, would go a long way towards keeping the festival running for years to come.

SPI Indoor Kite Fest
This wonderful SPI event is unique in the fact that it is held entirely inside, and we don’t know about you, but this is the only time we have ever seen kites flown inside. Also offering a music festival, in 2026 this February event celebrated the Magic of Motown, with some of its greatest artists performing live.
Kite Fest’s sponsor, B&S Kites, may inspire you to purchase your own colorful creation to fly outside, perhaps on our sandy beaches. The child inside you will be thrilled by the indoor kite performances and the very responsible adult that you see when you look in the mirror will be thrilled by how little it costs; $25 per person can get you admittance to both nights of the two-night festival.

Sol Padre Fest
April is a big month for music festivals, and Sol Padre Fest is the next SPI event on our list. This one-night festival takes place during Santa Semana (Holy Week) and offers Latin-inspired music with three different tiers, each providing its own fantastic experience.
The least expensive tickets really are cheap, costing just $35 for General Admission; The Highest Level Experience (as the most expensive tier is called) costs $99 per person and offers VIP Pit Access, an air conditioned VIP lounge with its own live DJ, plus a lot more. The Front of the Stage Ticket offers front of the stage pit access, multiple VIP bars, and fast track entry, while the GA tickets will give you first come, first serve and main lawn access behind the VIP Pit. No matter which ticket you purchase, we can promise that your night of music and fun will be a most memorable one!

Texas International Fishing Tournament
The Texas International Fishing Tournament attracts over 1500 anglers for two full days of fishing. There will be Captain’s Meetings and a Hospitality Social to open the tournament and an Award Ceremony to finish it, with lots of fishing, lounging, and savoring happening in between.
Save money by registering online from March 1 to July 1st if you want to join in the fun, but with regular prices for attending ranging between $50 to $150, this wonderful fishing tournament is very reasonably priced. This SPI event has been a much beloved one for nearly 90 years and is held on the clear waters of the Laguna Madre.

International Music Festival
As we mentioned earlier, April is a big month for music festivals, and the International Music Festival takes place just days after Sol Padre Fest ends. This wonderful event on South Padre Island also celebrates Semana Santa, with musicians from all over the country—no, from all over the world—playing their hearts out. Playing rock, country, jazz, hip hop, funk, Latino, and so many other musical genres, you know that there will be music you know all the words to and new music that will make you want to dance.
