Day 1: A Beer with the Boys
Your first day in town is usually a short one, having spent most of the day traveling, so let’s keep this first night lowkey with dinner and a beer (or a few beers) at Padre Island Brewing Company. Located at 3400 Padre Boulevard, they have been, in their own words, “brewing beer and feeding faces since 1995” and unlike most breweries, their pub grub menu is a delicious one. (And their beer may soon become your new obsession!)
Day 2: Boys Will Be Boys
Although Gravity Park is often described as a family friendly adventure, we all know that it’s no fun growing up, and boys will be boys no matter how old they are, making this amusement park a perfect adventure for your group. Offering a multi-level roller coaster, go kart track, climbing wall, the tallest reverse bungee in the world, and classic arcade games, this evening experience may be the highlight of your trip.
Day 3: 18 Holes and Laguna Views
Gravity Park does offer a miniature golf course, but you may prefer the challenging without being intimidating 18-hole course offered at the South Padre Island Golf Club, located at 1 Golf House Road in Laguna Vista. Offering a driving range, a short game area for chipping and pitching, and the beautiful course designed by architects Chris Cole and Stephen Caplinger, the 19th hole, Divots Bar & Grill may be your favorite part of your golf experience.
Day 4: Angling for a Good Time
Many of our SPI Rentals retreats provide shiny barbecue grills in the backyard, grills that are just waiting for the fish you catch during your fishing trip with AW Fishing Charters. Located at 211 W Swordfish Street, Captain Aaron Wittreich (so that’s where its name came from!) has fished the waters around South Padre Island for more than 20 years and there is nothing he loves to do more than take fishermen to his favorite spots. His 5-hour half-day fishing trips are the standard, but he does offer full-day trips upon request, should that be something you and your guys are interested in.
Day 5: Stogeys, Scotch, and Sputnik
Rockin Cigar Bar & Grill @3rd Coast, 5908 Padre Boulevard, is a great spot for another laidback night, offering smooth cigars, scotch, and a cute bull terrier named Sputnik, a breed you may recognize from General Patton, Spuds MacKenzie, or Target, depending on your generation. The Sputnik Grill offers a menu filled with appetizers, sandwiches, and pizza, ensuring that no one will go home hungry after a night smoking, sipping, and maybe snuggling with Sputnik.
Day 6: Riding the Waves
With the exception of the go kart track at Gravity Park, your adventures in South Padre Island have been mostly low-speed ones, so on your last full day in town, we’re going full throttle with jet skis rented from Parrot Eyes Water Sports, located at Jim’s Pier.
You can choose between their one hour tour on water skis and renting your own for up to an hour at a time, or you can go rogue and ride the banana boats or rent some kayaks to paddle your way to adventure. Also offering a thrilling Rocket Launch charter which brings dolphin adventures, sunset views, and the thrill of the moment, a SpaceX rocket launch that lights up the sky!
Day 7: One Final Breakfast
The last day of vacation blues can be modified slightly with one final breakfast at the Meatball Café, where everything is made from scratch. Located at 2412 Padre Boulevard, their pancake stack has been feeding hungry travelers for almost 10 years now, and we hope it continues doing so indefinitely.
