Every woman has that group of friends that has become more like family than just friends, women who will stand by their side no matter what life throws at them, helping them throw it right back. And because your group has something to celebrate, whether it’s a birthday, a wedding, or just the fact that you love each other unreservedly, you’ve decided that a Texas trip of a lifetime is in order and your sights are turned on our tropical South Padre Island paradise.
You’ve also had your sights turned in the direction of our SPI Rentals, and as the host to your shenanigans, we have created this guide to a girls’ getaway to South Padre Island, helping you fill the moments you aren’t lounging and relaxing in our rentals in South Padre, Texas with all the fun and excitement you lovely ladies deserve!
Day 1: Time to Wine Down
Travel eats up much of your first day on South Padre Island, but after you hug all your gals, choose your rooms, and change into some non-travel wrinkled clothing, it will be time to wine down with a visit to SPI Wine Bar, located at 4000 Padre Boulevard. (Unless your first day falls on a Sunday or Monday when it is closed!) Offering an extensive wine list that also features beer and cocktails, and a wonderful menu filled with charcuterie boards, cheese plates, even some international snacking options such as escargot and empanadas, this lovely place offers a wonderful welcome to SPI.
Day 2: White Sands, Blue Waters, and Time to Tan
Obviously, you have been waiting a long time for a day on the beach with your girls, and we aren’t going to make you wait any longer. Most of our properties will offer a selection of beach gear that include chairs, umbrellas, and a cooler that you can fill with your favorite snacks and beverages, so all you will need to do is slip into your swimsuit, grab a towel (we will have those for you as well), and head to the white sands, which if we are calculating correctly, are located just steps away from your back door, as you more than likely chose an oceanfront retreat!
Day 3: Shopping and Spa Day
Your muscles are still tight from spending hours in cramped spaces, your neck and shoulders still carry the stresses of real life, so why not start out day two with a visit to Sapphire Spa? Located at 310A Padre Boulevard and offering a long list of spa services including nail and hair, everyone will leave the spa glowing and happy. After the spa, grab a bite to eat at Yummies Bistro and then take to the streets to explore the shops; the spa, the bistro, and many cute shops and boutiques are all located on Padre Boulevard, which we think is mighty convenient!
Day 4: Paddle’s Down
The best way to explore South Padre Island can be from inside a kayak, and Bayside Water Rentals offers a colorful selection of kayaks, also providing instructions to those who have never tried the sport before, even though it is pretty self-explanatory. Spend a joyful morning with your girls paddling around the bay, enjoying the sunshine, the surf, and the creatures that make their homes in these salty waters. (Was that a pod of dolphins we saw off in the distance?) And because all that paddling can make you hungry, lunch at Blackbeards’, 103 E Saturn Lane, will give you an authentic taste of South Padre Island, offering a seafood menu that will make your taste buds cheer.
Day 5: A Tour of Ice Cream Shops
You and your friends have been behaving so well for so long, but you’re here, your trip is almost over, and for our summer visitors, ice cream is calling your name. All the ice cream you will dream about can be found during this tour of ice cream shops, including the Baked Bear that makes ice cream sandwiches out of homemade cookies and homemade ice cream. Another popular spot you will want to try during your visit is Dolce Roma, an Italian gelato delight, and for a refreshing change, why not try a pineapple milkshake from KICs Ice Cream?
Day 6: Tacos, Margaritas, and a Farewell to South Padre Island
On your last full day on South Padre Island, you may want to do some more shopping, some more beach time, and some more exploring, before ending the day with tacos and margaritas from Calacos Tacos and Beer. Located at 410 Padre Boulevard, their authentic street tacos are what we dream about and, now that we think about it, maybe we should have started there so you could go back more than once.
